Transgenic Mice

Management of transgenic mouse colonies

Vivotecnia can manage your animal maintenance and colony development program to allow you to focus on drug research and development activities. The colonies are bred according to a work plan designed to meet your needs. The animals are bred to quantities that you specify and can be delivered to your research facility or used in studies you want to be performed at Vivotecnia.

The service includes:

The design of a breeding strategy to provide the required number of mice with the appropriate genotype

Breeding of mice

Genotyping

Maintaining transgenic mice until appropriate age for experimental use

Delivery of mice for experimental use if required

Cryopreservation of mouse embryos

Cryopreservation can be used as a backup of the line or to save unused line from genetic drift and animal facility costs as well as a protection against microbial contamination or accidents. Cryopreserved embryos can either be delivered to the client directly or can be maintained at our facilities. Preserved embryos can be reconstituted upon request and breeding colonies can be re-established.

Embryonic transfer

Inappropriate health status can make scientific results invalid and cause the introduction of pathogenic agents in the animal facility. Rederivation is the principal method of removing pathogenic agents from laboratory strains. The rederivation service is provided by embryonic transfer procedures.
