Facilities and location

Vivotecnia is located in the north of Madrid, nearby most relevant Biological Research Institutes and Science Parks. The site is ideally situated close to Madrid’s international airport. This location gives access to one of the most productive academic, scientific and technological environments in Spain with excellent links to main cities worldwide.

Our animal facilities are designed to accommodate different animal species commonly used in experimental models:

- Rodents (rat, mouse, guinea pig ...)
- Larger animals (pig, dog, rabbit ...)

The facilities are equipped with contention barriers that allow an effective maintenance of the environmental and microbiological conditions in order to minimize the risk of infection in the different areas:

  - SPF area (Specific Pathogen Free)
  - Immunocompromised area
  - Quarantine area
  - Type II biological safety area

Our facilities are routinely monitored and our animals are thoroughly tested for health status in accordance with FELASA guidelines. A network of state of the art validated data loggers continuously monitors the environmental conditions of both, animal and laboratory facilities. Deviations from target parameters are immediately communicated by the affected unit to the responsible personnel via sms and e-mail. This system allows a strict control in accordance with the highest Quality Standards which guarantee the validity and reliability of the experimental results.
