Cancer Models

Cancer research relies on different experimental models for testing the efficacy of novel anticancer therapies. Vivotecnia provides a wide range of these models both in vivo and in vitro. We can assist you with your project either in point studies at any stage or with entire drug discovery programs.

  • Cytotoxicity studies. The efficacy of a drug is evaluated on in vitro cultured cell lines of different origins.
  • Xenograft studies: The drug is administered to an immunedeficient mouse that has been challenged with a cell line that grows in vivo to form a tumor.
  • Skin carcinogenesis studies: the drug is administered to mouse strains that are more susceptible to develop tumors and that have been previously challenged with inducting or promoting agents.
These models can be combined with other procedures that help explore the mechanism of action of the drug:
- Histology of tumor samples
- Exposure to radiation
- Analysis of tumor markers by flow cytometry or ELISA
- Analysis of tumor markers by PCR or microarray based techniques.
