El programa RETOS-COLABORACI\u00d3N est\u00e1 cofinanciado por el Fondo Europeo de Desarrollo Regional (FEDER).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Resumen:<\/strong><br \/>\nEl proyecto propuesto tiene como objetivo final el desarrollo de \u201cNuevos enfoques para el tratamiento del c\u00e1ncer de pulm\u00f3n\u201d. El c\u00e1ncer de pulm\u00f3n contin\u00faa siendo una de las principales causas de mortalidad y est\u00e1 asociado en gran medida al consumo de tabaco, que act\u00faa como carcin\u00f3geno. Hasta la fecha, no existen modelos animales de c\u00e1ncer de pulm\u00f3n inducido por tabaco y los modelos animales actualmente disponibles difieren de forma significativa de la realidad observada en la cl\u00ednica.<\/p>\n<p>El proyecto aborda la compleja tarea de desarrollar modelos animales de c\u00e1ncer de pulm\u00f3n inducidos por el mismo agente inductor que en humanos, es decir, el humo del tabaco, y con una biolog\u00eda molecular e histolog\u00eda lo m\u00e1s similares posible a las observadas en pacientes fumadores con c\u00e1ncer de pulm\u00f3n. El proyecto aprovechar\u00e1 estos modelos animales para una mejor comprensi\u00f3n de la enfermedad y para la evaluaci\u00f3n de f\u00e1rmacos reformulados para su administraci\u00f3n por v\u00eda inhalatoria.<\/p>\n<p>El proyecto incluye la participaci\u00f3n necesaria del Grupo de Oncolog\u00eda Experimental del Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Oncol\u00f3gicas (CNIO), liderado por el Dr. Mariano Barbacid, experto de referencia mundial en biolog\u00eda molecular del c\u00e1ncer de pulm\u00f3n y en la inducci\u00f3n de genotipos alterados con mutaciones habitualmente encontradas en pacientes con c\u00e1ncer de pulm\u00f3n. El CNIO desarrollar\u00e1 ratones con mutaciones condicionales en los genes supresores tumorales Rb1 y Tp53, mutaciones que se encuentran com\u00fanmente en el c\u00e1ncer de pulm\u00f3n de c\u00e9lulas peque\u00f1as (SCLC) en humanos. La presencia de estas mutaciones no es suficiente por s\u00ed sola para establecer un modelo animal representativo de c\u00e1ncer de pulm\u00f3n, por lo que el proyecto propone exponer a estos animales mutados al humo del tabaco como inductor secundario de la enfermedad.<\/p>\n<p>La correcta administraci\u00f3n del humo de tabaco requiere una tecnolog\u00eda adecuada que permita dosificar a los animales con tiempos de exposici\u00f3n equivalentes y con humo est\u00e1ndar, de forma controlada y reproducible. La Fundaci\u00f3n Science to Business (FS2B) cuenta con la capacidad y la experiencia necesarias para desarrollar e implementar el equipamiento requerido, as\u00ed como los protocolos anal\u00edticos necesarios para cuantificar el humo administrado. FS2B asumir\u00e1 adem\u00e1s el papel de formular f\u00e1rmacos convencionales y otros compuestos en desarrollo para su administraci\u00f3n por v\u00eda inhalatoria u otras v\u00edas, as\u00ed como el rol de coordinador cient\u00edfico.<\/p>\n<p>Vivotecnia Research S.L. (VVR) es una empresa consolidada con amplia experiencia en estudios de toxicolog\u00eda in vivo y en la evaluaci\u00f3n de las consecuencias de la exposici\u00f3n de diferentes especies animales a agentes t\u00f3xicos como el tabaco. VVR cuenta con experiencia en la gesti\u00f3n de proyectos cient\u00edficos bajo Buenas Pr\u00e1cticas de Laboratorio (GLP) y dispone de la capacidad necesaria para liderar el proyecto y maximizar el retorno de los resultados obtenidos desde el punto de vista cient\u00edfico, empresarial y de contribuci\u00f3n a la salud humana.
