Safety Pharmacology Testing
Central Nervous System (CNS) safety pharmacology studies assess the potential effects of new compounds on neurobehavioral functions, motor activity, and reflex responses. These studies are conducted in accordance with ICH S7A (core battery) and related regulatory guidelines, and are essential to detect undesired central effects that could compromise safety before clinical trials begin.

At Vivotecnia, we perform CNS evaluations and the Irwin Test, using standardized observation protocols different species, enabling the detection of subtle neuropharmacological changes following acute or repeated administration.
CNS studies typically include the Functional ObservationalBattery (FOB) and automated motor activity measurements. These allow evaluation of centrals alertness, neuromuscular function, sensory responses, and autonomic activity. Tests are designed in accordance with ICH and OECD 424 guidelines and may be combined with other safety pharmacology endpoints depending on the compound’s profile.

Neuroscience and CNS-focused Drug Development
Our CNS studies are carried out in fully equipped behavioral testing rooms with minimal noise and environmental interference. We use validated systems for motor activity recording and detailed neurological assessments, ensuring reproducibility and sensitivity. All studies are executed in GLP-certified conditions with integrated digital data capture and QA oversight.
Behavioral assessments performed using standardized scoring systems and high-sensitivity equipment.
Multiple simultaneous evaluations in dedicated CNS suites, ensuring efficient timelines.
CNS suites can be combined with other safety endpoints in a single, well-structures protocol.
In-house team specialized in behavioral and neurofunctional evaluation of CNS-active compounds.
